- Not just .50 cal. As the name suggests, the Cadex Defense CDX-50 TREMOR is a platform primarily built around .50 BMG, which offers not just extreme long-range performance, but exceptional knockdown power at those ranges. This is, after all, a cartridge that has been used for anti-materiel applications for roughly a century. This rifle, however, is not just available chambered in .50 BMG. You can also order it in a .416 Barrett chambering, and additional, custom CIP chamberings are available on request.
- Exceptional controllability. Despite its massive power, this rifle is surprisingly controllable. One aspect of that is weight; the .50 BMG variant weighs between 22.7 and 24.7 pounds, depending on configuration, which mass alone helps considerably to reduce recoil. It’s also muzzle brake ready, which can further cut back on the overall felt recoil generated.
- Lightweight bolt action. The Cadex Defense CDX-50 TREMOR is made with a lightweight bolt action, especially for its class, that is exceptionally strong and reliable.
- A stable action bedding. The CDX-50 TREMOR features a V-shaped bedding that provides maximum stability for the action, upholding a very high degree of accuracy.
- A folding configuration. The stock of the CDX-50 TREMOR folds, which reduces the overall footprint of the rifle, making it more compact for storage or transport. The manner in which the stock folds also covers and thereby protects the bolt and the action of the rifle.
- A detachable aluminum base. In some rifles, in order to access the trigger to make adjustments or for cleaning, you run the risk of losing your zero and needing to re-calibrate the rifle afterwards. In the CDX-50 TREMOR, there is a detachable aluminum base that affords easy access to the trigger for adjustments or maintenance without loss of zero.
- Precision rifling. In the .50 BMG variant, the CDX-50 TREMOR sports 8-groove rifling with a 1:15 twist rate, ideal for these large, fast-moving, and heavy bullets. In the .416 Barrett chambering, the rifle’s barrel sports 5R rifling, which is optimized to minimize bullet deformation, upholding the highest possible degree of accuracy. Another unique aspect of 5R rifling is that it lacks hard or sharp edges, which makes it much easier to clean before there is less surface area, and fewer edges, for fouling to adhere to.
- Military grade construction. The CDX-50 TREMOR is made with a CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum chassis that is exceptionally lightweight, strong, and which exhibits extremely tight tolerances. It’s finished with a military-grade Cerakote coating which insulates the chassis underneath from wear, and which also protects it against moisture and other corrosive influences.
- Muzzle brake readiness. The CDX-50 TREMOR is ready to accept a muzzle brake, which is just one other feature that makes it excellent as an ELR rifle in such a heavy chambering, as it helps control recoil, reducing shooter fatigue.
- It comes with a mirage control tube. Big calibers like .50 BMG and .416 Barrett can heat up a barrel quickly, which can throw off accuracy as the internal dimensions of the barrel shift. What’s worse is that hot gasses rising from the barrel can also obstruct or distort the sight picture. This rifle is equipped with a mirage control tube that vents away hot gasses out of the shooter’s line of sight, helping to minimize the effect of sight picture interruption or distortion arising from this phenomenon.
- Tool-free adjustability. Any good ELR rifle or precision rifle will offer a high degree of adjustability to the shooter, and the Cadex Defense CDX-50 TREMOR is no exception to this rule. This platform offers tool-free adjustability for length of pull (LOP), comb height, and butt pad height. This gives you the flexibility to make off-the-cuff adjustments based on clothing, conditions, and other features, affording a custom-like fit to the shooter at a moment’s notice. It also frees you from the need to carry additional tools in the field that will just add weight to your overall loadout.
- Expandability. Just like adjustability, any quality ELR or precision rifle should offer numerous attachment points, and the Cadex Defense CDX-50 TREMOR delivers on that front as well. It has numerous attachment points, including but not limited to lengths of Pic rail over the receiver and on the sides of the chassis, that are prime for adding shooting attachments and accessories.
