Die-hand ELR shooters know the name Accuracy International. To them, it is as synonymous with extreme long-range rifle shooting as are CheyTac and McMillan.
The company has over 40 years of experience and accolades to back it up. Over the years, it has won the UK’s MoD L96A1 contract, as well as contracts with Sweden and Germany for the PSG90 and G22.
One of the company’s most iconic platforms is the AXSR long action multi-caliber sporting rifle.
Here’s what you need to know about the AXSR (and you’re in the right place if you want to know about the Accuracy International AX308 sniper rifle price).
About the Accuracy International AXSR
First, the AXSR is a multi-caliber rifle. You might be familiar with rifles of a single chambering, or else platforms like the CheyTac M200 Intervention sniper rifle that come with interchangeable barrels, and which have an action that can support two very similar cartridges, like the .375 and .408 CheyTac.
It’s sort of like how an AR in 5.56 can shoot .300 BLK with a barrel swap. Except, there are limitations to multi-caliber functionality. It’s not like you could swap the barrel on a 12 gauge and start shooting .22 LR.
Accuracy International’s AXSR takes “multi-caliber” to the next level. The platform is preconfigured in 5 calibers but it only takes mere moments to convert the rifle from one caliber to the other, and the rifle comes not just with multiple barrels, but with mags and bolts to support multi-caliber functionality.
The 5 main calibers are .338 LM, .338NM, .300 NM, .300 PRC and .300 WM. However, the rifle is also available in non-standard builds for .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor, expanding its overall versatility for long-range rifle shooting, sport shooting and hunting.
In addition to the platform’s ability to chamber and shoot 5 distinct cartridges, it is also rounded out with a litany of features that make it exceptionally suitable for long-distance shooting. Among these are:
- A proofed, EN24T steel action with a 20 MOA action and forend rail for mounting optics or other accessories. The action is bolted to the aluminum chassis of the rifle.
- A toolless, quick-adjust buttpad with 2.15” in total range of motion, along with a height-adjustable cheekpiece with .86” in total range of motion. A space is provided in the cheekpiece to store the hex key necessary to swap the barrel on the AXSR.
- A rail-mounted adjustable bag rider is positioned under the stock to furnish additional options for rifle stability.
- A tripod interface on the bottom of the forend, designed for RRS (Arca Swiss-style) mounts.
- The front face of the forend grip is stepped so as to provide integral support when the rifle is braced against a barrier.
- The stock is side-folding to the right and can shorten the overall length of the rifle by more than 8”, for easier transportation. The stock also folds and locks securely over the bolt, protecting it in transportation.
- A rubber ERGO pistol grip that offers secure, fatigue-minimizing control over the rifle, and which is easily replaceable. The platform can also accept most AR-style rifle grips.
- A 6-lug, 60-degree steel bolt with a combat-proven leaf-spring extractor.
- 6 flush-cup sling mounts.
- An easily removable, Accuracy International, XSTP two-stage competition trigger factory set at 2.5 lbs.
- Stainless steel, cut-rifled, match-grade barrels with muzzle threads and M30 barrel tenons. The barrels sport Accuracy International’s “Quickloc” system that enables fast, intuitive barrel swaps in minutes using the included 5/32 hex key that stores under the cheekpiece.
- The rifles come with caliber conversion components, including magazines and bolts, not just barrels.

- The AXSR comes with a muzzle brake that cuts back on felt recoil and muzzle flash while also controlling dust eruption.
Several different choices in barrel lengths are available and without a scope or a bipod, the rifle weighs just over 16 pounds, making it stable enough for ELR shooting but still light enough to easily transport, especially with a sling.
Overall, the caliber pairings of the Accuracy International AXSR sniper rifle, added to its high degree of adjustability and ability to accept numerous different parts and accessories like grips, muzzle devices and optics, make it a uniquely positioned ELR rifle that can be used for many different disciplines, including target shooting, extreme-long range competition shooting, hunting and more.
